OUR CHRISTMAS GIFT TO PENSACOLA

April 30, 2019 - 9:50am -- Dave Cassens

Playing to a standing room only audience of some 250, the Pensacola Bay Harmonizers presented their annual Christmas Show on December 6, 2019, at the Gadsden Street United Methodist Church.  Sharing the risers with The Pensacola Sound Sweet Adelines chorus and bell virtuoso Danny Lyons, the 18-man chorus under the direction of Mary Daugherty and its quartets wowed the audience with seasonal songs ranging from the sacred Silent Night to the Beach Boys' Little St.Nick;  Calypso Clapping Carol and The Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy; and a house-silencing quartet rendition of Mary, Did You Know.  The annual Christmas concert titled Our Christmas Gift to Pensacola benefits The Arc Gateway and The Manna Food Pantry and provides each organization with a $500 donation from the Pensacola Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, the Harmonizers' parent organization, along with cash donations and non-perishable food items - the price of admission.  Since 2008 the annual event has provided over $20,000 for the two organizations and approximately 2 1/2 tons of non-perishable food items to Manna.
