We are thrilled with the sound we are creating under the direction of Mary Daugherty. Have a listen as we sing Irish Blessing at a recent Family Night rehearsal.
Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Edna Whitcomb and the families of Bob and Edna. We lost our brother in harmony January 16th at the age of 85. Bob loved barbershop harmony, singing in a quartet as well as in the chorus. Although he faced some medical challenges over the last few years, he made an extra effort to attend rehearsals and performances. The chorus was honored to answer one of his last requests and that was that we sing at his memorial service. Rest in peace, Bob.
In May of this year the Board of Directors of the Pensacola Bay Harmonizers met with and interviewed a young lady who had sent us her resume expressing a desire to direct the Pensacola Bay Harmonizers. A graduate of Pensacola Christian College and working on her Master’s in Choral Directing, Mary Daugherty seemed like a good fit. That decision has proved to be not only good, but GREAT one. Not being real familiar with Barbershop Harmony, the relationship between director and chorus soon became a wonderful and growing exchange of knowledge. As Mary learned more of our hobby, the chorus learned more about singing. Her ability to teach (she teaches elementary school children at Pensacola Christian Academy) in a confident, yet encouraging manner has endeared her to veteran Barbershopp
